Google’s official cover damaging Nexus 7: Report

NEW DELHI: As is the case with several gadget manufacturers, Google sells accessories for the products it makes. However, a recent report has claimed that the official folio protect the second-generation Nexus 7 tablet is damaging the device, rather than protecting it.

In a report on Android Central, author Andrew Martonik said he detected rust marks on the edges on his Nexus 7 (2013) unit after using it with the folio case for three months.

"Deep reddish-orange lines all around the back of my tablet. Around all four corners, and everywhere there is a cutout on the case, a crimson line on my otherwise pristine black Nexus 7. I can scrub all i would like, however the lines don't seem to require to return off," he noted.
